Synthesis

Overview

System Pro is the most accurate, comprehensive, and relevant AI-assisted research synthesis on the market. Read more . Every claim in a synthesis can be traced to its supporting source(s)—many findings, especially well-established ones, will reference multiple sources.

Methodology for synthesis

Prioritizing findings for synthesis

While System can cite over a hundred sources in a given synthesis, AI does have its limitations. When retrieving relevant findings to synthesize, Pro has two separate mechanisms to optimize for the value of synthesis. First, Pro clusters together similar findings, and boosts larger clusters of evidence to ensure well-established findings are not missed. Additionally, Pro gathers the study metadata to appropriately weight and boost more recent content and highly cited content. While we are continuously fine-tuning these methodologies, the intent is to provide a multi-faceted view into the research (recent content, highly cited, well-established).

Excluded material

Retracted studies are never synthesized as well as any finding that has revision pending review. Additionally, System Pro requires that at least one source in the cluster be statistically significant. If Pro was unable to retrieve the statistical significance for all evidence in a cluster, it will not be synthesized.

Drill down with citations

To maintain our standards for explainability, every synthesis includes references to the underlying sources. You can investigate the referenced studies by clicking the hyperlinked citations. When a statement has many sources that support that claim, Pro will cluster those into one citation so you can more easily navigate the depth of literature.

When drilling down, you can see key metadata like publish date, journal, and number of paper that cited that study to assess credibility. And, System has already extracted population information for these studies to help you evaluate the representativeness of evidence. Populations may include parameters like who (e.g. Females, aged 18-54) or what (transgenic rats), where (e.g. Denmark), and when (e.g. during Covid-19).

See the latest research

Users can now ask System Pro to generate a summary of the latest research for a given query. The user can ask "Whats the latest research?" and System Pro will summarize findings from the last 6 months of research and generate a new section on the Synthesis tab. And since we extract our data on a daily basis, a user will be able to check back in regularly for updates.

Export your synthesis and sources

Every synthesis can be exported in its entirety as a document or a complete list of citations in the synthesis as an RIS file. Further, each of the citation clusters can be exported as a csv file or as an RIS file.

To export the entire synthesis, simply click on the export button in the top right of the page.

Selecting a doc format will allow you to export the entire synthesis, its clustered references, and a bibliography together.

Provide feedback

For every synthesis, you can use the thumbs up/down icons to provide feedback; thumbs up if the synthesis was good, or thumbs down if you find that it contained incorrect information, missed important information, or was not helpful. Your feedback will help us improve the quality and accuracy of this synthesis.
